St. Patrick's Day

March 3, 2010
We are beginning to look forward to spring at HPS!  We had a great time working on some decorations for St. Patrick's Day!  The children are reading so well!  I love watching them practice diligence to be able to conquer reading a book that is a tad difficult at first!
We've begun writing our very own alphabet book!  We usually write two or three times per week.  Today, we wrote about ducks, daisies, daffodils, and dandelions!  (Hmm.. I wonder what letter we did today!  haha!)  Doesn't that m...

Growing!

January 22, 2010
I am amazed at how the children are growing so much!  I find it hard to believe yesterday was the end of our first semester! As we start the new semester, I'm sad to think of how fast it will go.  I've already started speaking of first grade expectations and the students are starting to get excited about the idea of "getting ready" for first grade.  :)  I'm looking forward to this next semester and all the awesome things we will be doing! Hopefully we can go on a field trip soon!!...

Dress Up

December 17, 2009
You should see the children today!  :)  As I write, I have a princess, a mommy in a robe, a clown, a soccer girl, a mermaid, and snow white are playing in our room!  They are so cute.  I love seeing them play dress up!  It's a rare occasion that we have time to bring out the dress up close, but I decided that today would be an great day for it since our Latin tutors from the collage are having finals this week and headed home for Christmas!
I am hoping to be able to see some of you tomorrow at...

Veteran's Day

November 13, 2009
We celebrated Veteran's Day in our classroom yesterday.  The children and I discussed what it meant to be a veteran and how thankful we are to have service men and women serving to keep our country safe and to protect us.  In fact, we have a student in our class who's father is in the military serving in Iraq as I write.  In observance of Veteran's Day, we decided it would be great to write a thank you note to him thanking him for serving our country.  I was so proud of my students!  They did...

November

November 3, 2009
We have been working diligently in our classroom!  I am so pleased with the children's progress!  They've already read their first homework reader and are doing an outstanding job blending words.  We are recognizing numbers 0-9, making AB patterns, and working on following dot-to-dot worksheets!
Don't forget that this Friday is Casual Day.  We will be having a special Family Game Night on Tuesday, November 17th from 5-7pm.  We will be serving sloppy joes and chips that evening during the event...

About Me

Miss Jeanine Birdsall Hello! I'm Miss Birdsall and I am so happy to have your child in my class this year! This is my 6th year teaching Kindergarten and I absolutely love my job! I grew up here in Hillsdale and have taught here at HPS since they opened in 2004. I graduated from Huntington University with a Bachelor's of Science in Education in the spring of 2002. I love to read and spend time with my family in my free time and have a very spoiled little yorkie named Jesse!
